Transportation and communication costs climbed 1.2%, with gasoline prices surging 7.2% amid fluctuations in international crude oil prices. Meanwhile, mobile phone prices advanced 3.3%, driven by higher costs for components such as chips and storage devices.
Prices within the food, tobacco, alcohol, and dining-out segment slipped 0.5%. Fresh fruit prices tumbled 8.0% as a result of a seasonal surge in supply during the summer months. Conversely, fresh vegetable prices rose 2.8%, as typhoons and heavy rainfall disrupted cultivation, transportation, and storage to varying degrees.
