SGX April 2026 Data: Trading Volume Climbs 7 % While Market Capitalisation Exceeds 1.12 trillion Singapore dollars

Singapore Exchange (SGX) reported that its stock market turnover volume rose to 40,621 million shares in April 2026, a 7 % increase from 38,066 million shares in March 2026. Turnover value fell 18 % month-on-month to 43,160 million Singapore dollars, reflecting one fewer trading day (21 versus 22 in March). Average daily securities value eased to 2,055 million Singapore dollars, down from 2,401 million Singapore dollars in the previous month.

Total market capitalisation expanded to 1,120,293 million Singapore dollars (about 1.12 trillion Singapore dollars) at end-April, compared with 1,095,707 million Singapore dollars a month earlier. Overall turnover velocity decreased to 48 % from 56 % in March.

Derivatives activity moderated: total contracts traded declined 21 % to 30,208,711, and average daily volume slipped to 1,479,546 contracts, down 18 % month-on-month.

The Straits Times Index (STI) closed at 4,912.69 on Apr, 30 2026, gaining 1 % from March and 28 % from a year earlier. Among sector benchmarks, the FTSE ST Technology Index recorded the largest monthly advance at 23 %, while the FTSE ST Telecommunications Index fell 6 %.

DBS Group Holdings Ltd (D05) remained SGX’s largest listed company with a market value of 166,363 million Singapore dollars at month-end. Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp (O39) followed at 98,331 million Singapore dollars, and Singtel (Z74) ranked third at 75,396 million Singapore dollars.

SGX ended April 2026 with 600 listed securities, down from 604 in March, after four mainboard delistings. Exchange-traded funds numbered 57, while daily leverage certificates increased to 323 from 309 a month earlier.

New bond listings totalled 72 in April, raising 41,631 million Singapore dollars, and brought total outstanding bond listings to 7,565. Foreign issuers accounted for 81 % of the month’s new bond count, while Singapore-dollar-denominated issues represented 11 % of the total.
