According to two informed sources, software manufacturer Oracle has begun notifying employees that the company is conducting a new round of layoffs.
The sources indicated that the scale of the job cuts reaches into the thousands. The individuals requested anonymity due to the involvement of confidential information. As of May 2025, the company employed a total of 162,000 individuals.
Oracle's stock has declined 27% year-to-date as investors grow concerned about competitive risks from generative AI models and the impact of infrastructure investments on the company's cash flow.
The software stock rose 5.6% in after-hours trading.
