The vessel named "Guo Fu Hai," the eighth 80,000-ton multi-purpose grain carrier constructed by Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. for COSCO Shipping Development Co., Ltd., was officially named and delivered on September 10. This ship design was independently developed by China and represents the world's first multi-purpose vessel type specifically adapted for grain transportation.
Measuring 229.95 meters in length, 32.26 meters in beam, and 21 meters in depth, the ship offers ample cargo hold space capable of carrying soybeans, corn, wheat, and various other grains alongside dry bulk cargoes. Breaking away from the traditional single-cargo limitation of ocean-going vessels, the ship establishes a two-way combined transport model featuring "containers on the outbound voyage and dry bulk cargo on the return trip," effectively enhancing the overall operational value of the shipping route.
Through optimized hull line design, upgraded propulsion systems, and low-carbon construction techniques, the vessel successfully reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Its performance metrics align with international green shipping regulations and China's domestic "dual carbon" development strategy for the shipping industry, delivering stable and controllable carbon reduction and energy-saving benefits. Additionally, the ship comes equipped with intelligent navigation assistance, real-time cargo monitoring, and comprehensive safety management systems, enabling live tracking of ocean-going conditions, full-chain traceability of grain shipments, and early warning of navigation risks, which significantly enhances the safety, stability, and operational efficiency of long-distance grain transport.
At present, the seven sister vessels from earlier deliveries are all in active service, with their shipping routes performing consistently and reliably.
