Daxing Airport Unveils Major Upgrades: Faster Security Checks, 24/7 AI Assistance, and Affordable Overnight Options

Ahead of the seventh anniversary of Daxing Airport's opening, a comprehensive set of service upgrades has been launched, targeting the most common travel frustrations. From faster security screening to a new smart customer service system and enhanced overnight transfer facilities, the airport is redefining the passenger experience for the better.

One of the most significant changes addresses the traditional hassle of removing laptops, tablets, and umbrellas from bags at security. The new "Easy Security" fast-track channel, introduced by the Civil Aviation Administration, uses advanced CT scanners for carry-on luggage and millimeter-wave gates, allowing for whole-bag inspection. Passengers now only need to remove power banks, saving an average of roughly three minutes per person. Initially, two such lanes operated on the third floor, but a new dedicated lane has recently been added on the B1 level, which connects directly to the rail transit area. This means passengers arriving by subway or the Beijing-Xiong'an intercity railway can now complete security checks without going upstairs. The new lane is open daily from 6 AM to 8 PM, and travelers can book their slot within 48 hours of departure via the Alipay app. Since its launch in October 2024, this specific service has already facilitated over 1.4 million passengers, offering a seamless process where simply scanning an ID opens the gate.

Transforming the traditional information desk, Daxing Airport has introduced a smart customer service system available to all passengers, which has handled 15,000 inquiries during its trial run. While the airport still operates eight manual service desks, these are not staffed around the clock, leading to bottlenecks during nighttime and peak hours. To fill this gap, six smart kiosks have been deployed in crowded areas to offer video calls to human agents, a feature one passenger found remarkably convenient. For standard questions about flight status or ground transportation, passengers can now get instant answers via the official app or mini-program. As a service manager noted, routine queries are handled by AI, while more complex issues are seamlessly routed to human staff, significantly boosting overall efficiency.

For passengers facing early flights, late arrivals, or long layovers, overnight stays have been upgraded too. Near Gate B21, a scenic relaxation area with over 20 reclining chairs offers views of the tarmac. There are 13 additional free rest zones throughout the terminal, equipped with seats, recliners, and sofas. For those seeking more privacy, an "economy reclining zone" near Gate A01 operates from 8 PM to 7 AM, with prices starting at just 20 RMB. To cater to families, the airport now also provides tent rentals, with nightly rates ranging from 20 to 129 RMB. Higher-end options include massage chairs, sleep pods, and hourly lounges, ensuring a comfortable stay for every budget.

With these changes, Daxing Airport is evolving from a mere transit point into a warm and welcoming haven for travelers, even overnight. Have you noticed these new amenities on your recent visit? Share your experience in the comments below.
