Mistral AI has secured €3 billion (approximately $3.5 billion) in a new funding round, anchored by Samsung Electronics, propelling the company's post-investment valuation to over €21 billion. The capital injection will be directed toward artificial intelligence model research and computational infrastructure expansion.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the EU's Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity served as co-lead investors in this financing round. The Paris-based startup's valuation has nearly doubled compared to the €11.7 billion it commanded during its previous funding round just one year ago.

In an interview, Chief Executive Officer Arthur Mensch stated that these funds will enable Mistral AI to advance in the industrial AI sector, bringing AI technology directly into manufacturing and production workflows. Industrial AI has become one of the company's core differentiation strategies.

While Mistral AI remains considerably smaller than generative AI giants like OpenAI and Anthropic PBC, the company has consistently positioned itself as Europe's sovereign AI alternative. It has established partnerships with major European industrial players, including Airbus, BMW, and Dutch lithography equipment maker ASML Holding NV, which previously led Mistral AI's last funding round.
