A claim that a teenage girl from a low-income household in Ganzhou, Jiangxi province, had her family's subsistence allowance revoked following a trip to Hong Kong for a concert has prompted an official investigation. The local authorities have responded to the online discussion that began circulating recently.

The Social Affairs Administration Bureau of the Ganzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone issued a statement on September 7th addressing the situation. The bureau explained that it had established a dedicated team to conduct a thorough review immediately after the matter gained public attention.

According to the bureau's preliminary findings, the girl, identified as Huang, a resident of the zone, triggered a dynamic monitoring alert for subsidy recipients when she traveled to Hong Kong on her own to watch the concert. In response, community officials contacted the family to inform them of the relevant policies. Concerned that their benefits might be affected, Huang's relatives posted the information online to seek help.

The bureau confirmed it is currently verifying the family's circumstances and the claims made online, and will handle the case lawfully based on its findings.
