August Auto Sales Dip 5.1% Year-on-Year, NEV and Exports Surge Higher

New data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reveals that total vehicle sales in August reached 2.712 million units, reflecting a 5.1% decline compared to the same period last year.
New energy vehicles stood out as a bright spot, with sales climbing 17.8% year-on-year to 1.643 million units, now accounting for a substantial 60.6% of all new car sales in the country.
In the export sector, August saw a robust performance with total vehicle exports reaching 1.01 million units, up 65.3% from the prior year. Notably, new energy vehicle exports surged 1.3 times year-on-year, hitting 526,000 units.
