On September 9, 2026, a specialized training session focused on advancing sustainability efforts for listed companies was convened in Nanjing by the China Association for Public Companies. The event was organized by the association, with its sustainability committee and the board magazine of the Phoenix Publishing and Media Group serving as co-hosts, while the Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Anhui provincial associations for public companies provided collaborative support. More than 200 delegates from listed firms, including those operating domestically, across multiple regions, and overseas, took part in the session.

During the opening remarks, the association's vice president highlighted that this year marks the starting point of the 15th Five-Year Plan, alongside the official implementation of the ecological environment code and the steady rollout of dual-carbon policies, which collectively push forward the depth of corporate sustainability work. The association has been actively engaged in a series of sustainability initiatives, such as serving its members and enhancing capacity building, supporting regulatory efforts and policy refinement, deepening research to drive practical outcomes, and fostering exchanges to consolidate multi-party cooperation.

A senior executive from the Phoenix Publishing and Media Group emphasized that ESG is not an optional extra but a mandatory question posed by the times. The group has consistently integrated sustainability principles into its entire chain of governance, environmental management, and social practices, building a systematic ESG framework. She expressed that this training would serve as an opportunity to collaborate with market participants to advance sustainability initiatives pragmatically and contribute to the high-quality development of Chinese listed companies.

The training segment included a presentation by the association's corporate governance department, which outlined the latest practices and information disclosure trends in corporate sustainability. Representatives from COSCO SHIPPING Holdings and Cofco Group shared their respective hands-on experiences and lessons learned in implementing sustainability measures. Industry specialists from organizations such as Ernst & Young, Dingli Technology, Zeyang Tianxia, Syntao Green Finance, CSI Index, and Sina Finance delivered detailed analyses on topics including corporate globalization and supply chain management, climate risk disclosure practices, biodiversity reporting standards, ESG data integration with artificial intelligence, ESG ratings linked to market value management, and ESG communication strategies for managing public sentiment.

Participating listed companies noted that the session systematically clarified disclosure requirements, presented exemplary case studies, and explained pathways for global expansion and supply chain management, while also addressing critical issues such as quantitative methodologies and data governance. This approach helps companies lower both learning and trial-and-error costs, enhances the professionalism and credibility of their reports, and serves as a valuable reference for firms listed in multiple regions as well as those venturing overseas. More importantly, the training established a cross-industry platform for exchange, enabling companies to share insights and avoid common challenges as they navigate the ESG transition collectively.

Moving forward, the association intends to continue leveraging its role in self-regulation and member services, deepen its focus on sustainability practices, steer enterprises toward embracing new development philosophies, reinforce capacity building, and promote overall quality enhancement across the board.
