A provincial-level skills competition for agri-food safety testing professionals was held in Fuzhou from August 31 to September 4, drawing 50 participants from 10 teams representing all nine prefecture-level cities in Fujian Province along with the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone.

The event was jointly organized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, with the Provincial Agri-Food Quality and Safety Inspection and Testing Center serving as the primary coordinator.

The competition established a platform for exchanging technical expertise in agricultural product testing across the province, with the goal of enhancing practical skills through competitive learning and strengthening the talent pipeline for agri-food safety inspection.

Building on the traditional quantitative testing events for pesticide and veterinary drug residues, this year's edition introduced a new category focused on rapid testing methods for agricultural products, better aligning with the practical needs of frontline operations.

The contest consisted of both a theoretical knowledge examination and hands-on skills assessment. Participants competed across several disciplines, including quantitative pesticide residue analysis in crop-based products, quantitative veterinary drug residue analysis in livestock and poultry products, rapid pesticide residue testing in crop-based products, rapid veterinary drug residue testing in livestock and poultry products, and standard solution preparation.

After several days of rigorous competition, the delegations from Ningde, Sanming, and Quanzhou stood out, securing the first, second, and third place team awards, respectively. Individual accolades were also presented, with one gold, one silver, and one bronze medalist named, along with ten excellence awards.

Photographs from the event depict the theoretical examination session, contestants performing pre-processing procedures for rapid veterinary drug residue tests, participants preparing standard solutions, and representatives from winning teams receiving their awards.
