Dollar Firms, Treasury Yields Little Changed Ahead of U.S. Jobs Data

1009 GMT - The U.S. dollar rises while Treasury yields are steady ahead of August employment data at 1230 GMT. Yields retreated Thursday after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller's comments pushed rate-hike expectations lower, to roughly equal odds of a rate increase and a rate hold at the Sept. 16 meeeting. Waller said he would support holding interest rates steady if next week's August inflation data backed it up. However, yields "remain at elevated levels" as an interest-rate hike is still expected before the end of the year, DHF Capital S.A's Bas Kooijman says in a note. The DXY dollar index rises 0.2% to 99.099, rebounding slightly from steep losses Thursday. The 10-year Treasury yield is steady at 4.762%, according to Tradeweb.
