Firmus and OpenAI today announced a multi-year partnership under which OpenAI will contract dedicated AI compute capacity from two 'to-be-built' Firmus data center sites in Malaysia.

The Australia-based, privately held Firmus builds data centers that it dubs AI Factories, while the US-based OpenAI develops artificial intelligence models.

OpenAI will serve as an anchor customer for the Malaysian facilities, Firmus said. The company said the partnership brings its total contracted capacity across all customers to more than 900 megawatts.

Nvidia's (NVDA) computing platform Vera Rubin will be introduced at scale in Malaysian facilities and across other Asian Pacific data centers.

The sites will use Nvidia's DSX AI Factory Platform to integrate Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale systems with Firmus' HyperCube infrastructure, according to the company.
