Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKG:0388) and The London Metal Exchange said a new competition lawsuit in the UK over nickel trades does not have merit and is a case it will contest "vigorously."
Elliott Associates and Elliott International alleged in its claim filed at the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal on Sept. 3 that the two companies abused their dominance by not providing "appropriate arrangements and systems" for the prevention of disorderly trading, among others.
The Hong Kong bourse operator is yet to be served with the claim, as Elliott will need to receive the tribunal's permission to do so.
