ABM Industries reported higher profit and revenue in its fiscal third quarter, supported by healthy technology markets and recent acquisitions.

The company, which offers cleaning and heating, ventilation and air conditioning services, posted a profit of $49.7 million, or 84 cents a share, for its three months ended July 31. That compares with a profit of $41.8 million, or 67 cents a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out one-time items, earnings came in at $1.04 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected adjusted earnings of $1.01 a share.

Revenue climbed 4.2% to $2.32 billion, in line with Wall Street estimates. The increase reflects organic growth of 2.1% as well as acquisition growth of 2.1%, the company said.

"Our team executed well and delivered on our expectations despite a backdrop of macro uncertainty and adverse timing of certain projects," Chief Executive Scott Salmirs said.

ABM's Aviation and Manufacturing & Distribution unit delivered strong organic revenue growth, supported by healthy technology markets with further support from recent acquisitions, Salmirs said.

The growth was offset by the company's Technical Solutions arm, which saw project deferrals hurt demand trends.

Looking forward, ABM narrowed its adjusted earnings outlook to between $3.95 and $4.10 a share, from between $3.85 and $4.15 a share. Analysts were looking for $3.98 a share.

The company continues to expect organic revenue growth to come in near the high end of its previously guided 3%-to-4% range. Total revenue growth is also projected to hit the top end of its forecast for between 4% and 5%.

Shares ebbed 2.2%, to $46, in premarket trading.
