ECB's Acknowledgement of Stronger Economy, Persistent Inflation More Important than Rate Hike

1311 GMT - More important than the interest-rate hike itself is that the European Central Bank has used this meeting to acknowledge a stronger economy and a more persistent inflation outlook than it expected just a few months ago, Aberdeen's Felix Feather says in a note. "The updated forecasts are telling," the economist says. The eurozone has proved remarkably resilient despite higher energy prices and geopolitical uncertainty, leading policymakers to revise growth expectations higher, he says. At the same time, inflation forecasts have also moved up, reflecting elevated energy costs and concerns that inflation could remain above target for longer, Feather adds.
